Resolution 2025-33554RESOLUTION NO.2025-33554 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,(1)ALLOCATING $100,000 TO RELOCATE ALL HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS FROM THE BIKINI HOSTEL TO AN APPROPRIATE FACILITY, UNLESS THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY HOMELESS TRUST CONTINUES TO PLACE ADDITIONAL HOMELESS PERSONS AT ANY MIAMI BEACH ESTABLISHMENT,IN WHICH CASE ALL PAYMENTS MUST CEASE;(2) URGING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO INVESTIGATE COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS ABOUT PUBLIC SAFETY AT THE BIKINI HOSTEL MADE PUBLIC AND PART OF THE RECORD;(3)URGING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE TO DETERMINE IF IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE NECESSARY TO TAKE FURTHER ACTION,SUCH AS THE REVOCATION OF A BTR;AND (4)DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE TO ASSIST THE CITY ADMINISTRATION'S EFFORTS BY PROVIDING LEGAL SUPPORT AND PURSUING ALL AVAILABLE AND LAWFUL REMEDIES. WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission passed the following resolution at the February 26,2025 City Commission meeting in order to address the negative impacts of the Bikini Hostel's operations on the City,the surrounding neighborhood,and upon unsuspecting tourists who unwittingly book a room at the Bikini Hostel,which is currently being utilized as a de facto homeless shelter in a residential neighborhood within the City of Miami Beach. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,that the Mayor and City Commission hereby (1)allocate $100,000 to relocate all homeless individuals from the Bikini Hostel to an appropriate facility,unless the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust continues to place additional homeless persons at any Miami Beach establishment,in which case all payments must cease;(2)urge the City Administration to investigate complaints and concerns about public safety at the Bikini Hostel made public and part of the record;(3)urge the City Administration to further investigate to determine if it may or may not be necessary to take further action,such as the revocation of a BTR;and (4)direct the City Attorney's Office to assist the City Administration's efforts by providing legal support and pursuing all available and lawful remedies.
