SUBJECT: Production Industry Council Motion - March 13, 2025
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission ("L TC") is to inform the Mayor and City Commission
of a motion passed by the Miami Beach Production Industry Council ("PIC") during their Thursday,
March 13, 2025, meeting.
At the meeting, the Council heard a presentation and project proposal from FANGORIA Studios,
a multimedia platform spanning print, digital, film and television coverage, podcasts, merchandise
and more. Now in its fourth decade, FANGORIA celebrates and supports the diverse world of
horror creators and fans.
MOTION: The motion was made to approve a proposed partnership with FANGORIA Studios to
produce two short films filmed in Miami Beach, with $25,000 in grant funding provided from the
City's Film Incentive for both films.
As part of the partnership, Fangoria Studios will submit the films to top domestic and international
genre festivals, aiming to maximize exposure and further establish Miami Beach as a thriving hub
for independent cinema. In addition, staff will work with the studio to host a public premier event
in Miami Beach to showcase the films.
Motion was moved by Igor Shteyrenberg and seconded by Jessica Londono.
Motion passed unanimously (6-0).
