LTC# 138-2025 TO: FROM: DATE: Honorable Mayor Steven Meiner and Me Eric Carpenter, City Manager � March 27, 2025 LETTER TO COMMISSION SUBJECT: Artistic Recycling Pilot Program Launch The purpose of this Letter to the Commission (L TC) is to announce the launch of theArtistic Recycling Pilot Program in Altos del Mar Park. The launch of the Artistic RecyclingPilot Program will take place during the Turtle Fest 2025 event, hosted by the Environmentand Sustainability Department. On November 20, 2024, the Mayor and City Commission approved the item C7S,sponsored by Commissioner Joe Magazine and co-sponsored by Commissioner TanyaK. Bhatt, for the creation of an Artistic Recycling Pilot Program in North Beach, viaResolution No. 2024-33373. Artistic recycling bins are uniquely shaped and designed tobring awareness and encourage residents and visitors to contribute to recycling efforts. The City has partnered with local non-profit organizations, Moonlighter Fablab and CleanMiami Beach, to create an artistic recycling receptacle to be placed in a location in Altosdel Mar Park and to conduct a scheduled beach cleanup. In celebration of Earth Month,the Artistic Recycling Pilot Program will kick off from April 1, 2025, through June 1, 2025. The Artistic Recycling Pilot Program is funded by the North Beach CommunityRedevelopment Agency. The Tourism and Culture and Environment and Sustainability departments have partneredto unveil the Artistic Recycling Pilot Program receptacle during the annual Turtle Festevent, bringing arts and culture and environment and sustainability together in anengaging and fun way.
