LTC 143-2025 Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association (FPNA) Resolution RequestingMIAMI BEACH OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK LTC#143-2025 LETTER TO COMMISSION TO:Mayor Steven Meiner and Members of the City Commission Eric Carpenter, City Manager Ricardo J. Dopico, City Attorney Joseph M. Centorino, Inspector General FROM:Rafael E. Granado, City Clerk DATE:March 31, 2025 SUBJECT: Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association (FPNA) Resolution Requesting Installation of Speed Humps in Flamingo Park Neighborhood Please see attached a letter from the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association (FPNA), dated March 27, 2025. At their recent meeting, following a City update on the Slow Streets 2.0 pilot, the FPNA passed a unanimous resolution requesting that the City begin the process of installing speed humps in the Flamingo Park neighborhood. March 27,2025 Mayor and Commissioners, At the March FPNA meeting earlier this month, the City's Transportation Department updated the NA on the Slow Streets 2.0 trial slated for our neighborhood. In the course of the discussion afterwards, the subject of speed humps/tables came up and it was noted that many other neighborhoods in the City have had them installed. Most recently, speed humps were installed throughout the South of Fifth neighborhood. While those in attendance were pleased Slow Streets 2.0 is moving forward, the discussion focused on why the FPN has not yet had speed humps installed in our neighborhood. It was repeatedly mentioned that we've been asking for speed humps for many years now. A suggestion was made that we pass a resolution asking the City to move forward with whatever is required to expeditiously install speed humps in the FPN.The below resolution was passed unanimously. The Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association urges the City to begin whatever process is necessary to install speed humps in the neighborhood. We believe this process should be separate from the Slow Streets project and focus solely on speed humps which seem to be the de facto method of slowing traffic throughout the City.
