RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO PREPARE
A PLAN, FOR APPROVAL BY THE CITY COMMISSION, RELATED TO THE
USE OF PUBLIC BENEFIT FUNDS TO BE PAID BY YACHTING PROMOTIONS,
INC. TO THE CITY PURSUANT TO THE LONG-TERM LICENSE AGREEMENT
RECENTLY APPROVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION FOR THE USE OF CITY-
OWNED PROPERTY ALONG THE INDIAN CREEK WATERWAY AND AT
PARKING LOT P-71.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has entered into a long-term license agreement with
Yachting Promotions, Inc. for the use of City-owned property along the Indian Creek waterway
and at parking lot P-71; and
WHEREAS, the agreement stipulates that Yachting Promotions, Inc. shall pay public
benefit funds to the City in the amount of$250,000 per year during the initial 5-year term of the
agreement, as well as during the 5-year option term, if exercised; and
WHEREAS, these public benefit funds are intended to be used, at the City's discretion,
for waterway and spoil island cleanup, water quality and restoration efforts, and/or any other
project, program, or initiative with the goal of improving or maintaining the quality, health, and
safety of the City's waterways; and
WHEREAS, in light of the limited funding available from the public benefit funds, the City
Commission desires for the Administration to develop a comprehensive plan for the allocation
and use of these funds, taking into account existing programs that may require additional funding
as well as any programs with a low annual cost, to maximize the impact of these funds on the
City's waterways and environmental efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, hereby direct the Administration to prepare a
plan, for approval by the City Commission, related to the use of public benefit funds to be paid by
Yachting Promotions, Inc. to the City pursuant to the long-term license agreement recently
approved by the City Commission for the use of City-owned property along the Indian Creek
Waterway and at Parking Lot P-71.
