PFL:me By q► / Date _.�L I e- CITY OF MIAMI BEACH CITY HALL 1700 CONVENTION CENTER DRIVE MIAMI BEACH FLORIDA 33139 COMMISSION MEMORANDUM NO. 6 1, TO: Mayor Seymour Gelber and DATE: September 13, 1995 Members of the City Commission FROM: Jose Garcia-Pedrosa City Manager SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONCERT ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA,INC.,ON BEHALF OF THE COLONY THEATER, TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE METRO-DADE CULTURAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the Concert Association of Florida, Inc., on behalf of the Colony Theater, to submit a grant application to the Metro-Dade Cultural Affairs Council in an amount up to $50,000; further, providing that the City is authorized to commit such City funds as deemed appropriate for matching the grant, if awarded. BACKGROUND The Metro-Dade Cultural Affairs Council's 1995-96 Capital Development Program is now accepting applications for grants. This is the program that provides funding for renovations and improvements for the Colony Theater. Concert Association of Florida, Inc., on behalf on the Colony Theater proposes to submit an application requesting funding of up to $50,000 for theatrical equipment and supplies, and will need the City's endorsement and commitment of matching support. At this time, the City of Miami Beach is required to make its best efforts to commit to a $1 for $1 matching support would consist of a like amount of ADA improvements as specified by the existing ADA survey and/or such other ADA compliance improvements as determined by the City.
