A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE CERTIFICATES OF THE
RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 7, 1995 SPECIAL
ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
ADJOURNING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE NOVEMBER 7, 1995
SPECIAL ELECTION AND DECLARING RESULTS
THEREOF.
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 95-21642, adopted on July 12, 1995, Dade County
Election Officials were authorized to conduct a Special Election of the City of Miami Beach to be
held on November 7, 1995; and
WHEREAS, on September 13, 1995,the City Manager(or his designee), Commissioner
Sy Eisenberg and Commissioner Nancy Liebman were designated by the Miami Beach City
Commission to act as its Canvassing Board representatives regarding the conduct of the November
7, 1995 Special Election for the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager (or his designee), Commissioner Sy Eisenberg and
Commissioner Nancy Liebman acted as the Commission representatives/Canvassing Board for the
November 7, 1995 Special Election; and
WHEREAS,the Certifications of the results of the City of Miami Beach Special Election
have been received and are attached hereto as Composite Exhibit "A" and are incorporated herein;
and
WHEREAS, said Certification reflects that the ballot question as set forth below was
not approved by the electorate of the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,that having canvassed the
returns of the November 7, 1995 Special Election of the City of Miami Beach, it hereby adopts the
certificates as to the results of said Special Election and it is hereby ordered that the Certificates
of Election and this Resolution be recorded in the minutes of the meeting as a permanent record
of the results of said election; be it further resolved that by adoption of this Resolution the City
Commission appointed Committee acting as Canvassing Board for the City of Miami Beach
composed of the City Manager (or his designee),Commissioner Sy Eisenberg and Commissioner
Nancy Liebman has discharged itsduties for the November 7, 1995 City of Miami Beach Special
Election and said Committee is hereby adjourned; and be it further resolved that as a result of the
City of Miami Beach November 7, 1995 Special Election, the vote upon the question presented
reflects the following results:
RENAMING "OCEAN BEACH PARK" TO "MARJORIE
STONEMAN DOUGLAS PARK"
SHALL "OCEAN BEACH PARK" (LOCATED GENERALLY TO
THE EAST OF OCEAN DRIVE BETWEEN THE SOUTH RIGHT
OF WAY OF 2ND STREET EXTENDED, AND THE NORTH
RIGHT OF WAY OF 3RD STREET EXTENDED)BE RENAMED
"MARJORIE STONEMAN DOUGLAS PARK"?

certify that we have made an examination of the returns of the
Special Election held in Miami Beach, Florida, on November 7, 1995,
as conducted by the Clerks and Inspectors who were duly appointed
by the Metropolitan Dade County Supervisor of Elections; and as
reflected by certification received from the Supervisor of
Elections of Dade County, Florida; such examination having been
made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns and
certification; and DO HEREBY CERTIFY that as a result of said
examination we have found and DO HEREBY DECLARE the results of said
election upon the question:

Attached hereto is a Resolution' adopting the Certificates of the Results of the November 7,
1995 Miami Beach Special Election for the City of Miami Beach, adjourning the City of Miami
Beach Canvassing Board for the November 7, 1995 Special Election and declaring election results.
The passage of this Resolution effectively concludes acceptance of election returns for the City of
Miami Beach's November 7, 1995 Special Election.
