95-21832 Reso RESOLUTION NO. 95-21832 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF $510,784 FROM CAPITAL PROJECT FUND 301 AND ESTABLISHING A WORK ORDER FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF SIDEWALK, CURB AND GUTTER, AND OTHER STREET IMPROVEMENTS WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH . WHEREAS, funds are currently available from Bond Fund 301 which was established for street improvements within the City of Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, the three work orders previously established under Bond Fund 301 have been closed; and WHEREAS, improvements involving the replacement of sidewalks and curb and gutters are required for the reduction of damage which occur due to the development of cracks, uprooting of trees and settling of existing sidewalks and pavement due to soil conditions; and WHEREAS, these improvements will result in enhanced neighborhood areas and greater response to citizen complaints. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission authorize the appropriation of$510,784 from Capital Project Fund 301 and the establishment of a Work Order for the replacement of sidewalks, curb and gutter, and other street improvements within the City of Miami Beach. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission authorize the appropriation of$510,784 from Capital Project Fund 301 and the establishment of a Work Order for the replacement of sidewalks, curbs, gutters and street improvements within the City of Miami Beach. BACKGROUND Funds are currently available from Bond Fund 301 which was established for street improvements within the City of Miami Beach. The three work orders previously established under Bond Fund 301 have been closed. ANALYSIS The following areas and budgets have been identified for the replacement of sidewalks, curb and gutter and street resurfacing: First Street to 18th Street from the Ocean to West Avenue $200,000 19th Street to 50th Street from the Ocean to North Bay Road $150,000 51st Street to 86th Street from Harding Avenue to Stillwater Drive $160,784 These improvements are necessary for the reduction of potential tripping hazards which occur due to the development of cracks, uprooting of trees and settling of existing sidewalks and pavement due to soil conditions. The proposed sidewalk replacement and street improvement program will result in enhanced neighborhood areas and greater response to citizen complaints.
