97-22499 RESO RESOLUTION NO, 97-22499 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING THE CONCERT ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA, INC, TO SUBMIT A GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE METRO-DADE CULTURAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL'S CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS PROGRAM, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE COLONY THEATER, IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO COMMIT MATCHING FUNDS, FROM REVENUES OF THE PARAMOUNT CAFE, IN AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO FUNDS AWARDED, WHEREAS, the Metro-Dade Cultural Affairs Council has announced applications for ts 1997 -98 Capital Development (MDCAC) Grants Program; and WHEREAS, the program assists nonprofit cultural organizations to purchase, reno'ia13, and/or equip neighborhood-based cultural facilities; and WHEREAS, a condition of the program is a minimum 1:1 match commitment of supp< rt from the City of Miami Beach, with applications due August 24, 1997; and WHEREAS, the Capital Development Grants Program has provided funding for renovatioils and improvements for the Colony Theater since the inception of the program; and WHEREAS, the Concert Association would like to submit an application again this ye3r requesting maximum funding of $50,000 for a project that includes the purchase of video proje:;ticln equipment, the purchase of new state-of-the-art lighting instruments, and repairs to the proje::tion booth; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach and the Concert Association have been partne rs in this project each year, underwriting renovation and purchase of state-of-the-art technical equipme1t that has made the Colony the most popular small theater in South Florida;
