DATE: April 16, 2025 SUBJECT: Art in Public Places Committee Motions -April 15, 2025 The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide an update regarding motions made during the April 15, 2025, Art in Public Places (AiPP) Committee meeting. 1.Finalist artists in the Bayshore Park public art commission presented their second and final proposals to the AiPP Committee: Richard Hudson, R&R Studios, and Michele Oka Doner. All AiPP Committee members need to be in attendance to facilitate final vote. Motion: The Art in Public Places Committee motions to defer the final selection of the Bayshore Park public art commission to the Tuesday, May 20, 2025, AiPP meeting date to allow all members to be in attendance and obtain a majority vote from the five (5) current appointed members. The above motion was made by Steve Berke, seconded by Sara de las Reyes, and passed unanimously. 2.Following revisions to the City of Miami Beach Artist Vendor program, prospective applicants must undergo review with the Art in Public Places Committee after presenting their work to Tourism & Culture staff. The first review is conducted to verify the artisanal nature of the items they wish to sell. Current applicants shared a physical demonstration of the production of their works and showcased finished examples for consideration at a recorded meeting. Cultural Affairs staff relayed this information along with images to the AiPP Committee. Motion: The Art in Public Places Committee motions to approve the following applicants to the City of Miami Beach Artist Vendor program: Magarry Cilus (BLPL#2025-09597), Monica Tatiana Benavides (BLPL#2025-09598), and Ana Beatriz Villegas (BLPL#2025- 09599). The above motion was made by Steve Berke, seconded by Sara de las Reyes, and passed unanimously. Members in attendance: Vice-Chair Steve Berke, Silvia Barisione, Colette Mello, and Sara de las Reyes.
