SUBJECT: Sister Cities Committee Motions
The purpose of this Letter to Commission ("L TC") is to inform the Mayor and City Commission
of motions made, and unanimously approved, by the Sister Cities Committee (SCC) on March
3, 2025 and April 7, 2025
Members present on March 3, 2025 include Moni Cohen, Laura Levey , Fred Bean, Matti Bower,
Allison Buttacavoli , John Ospitia, and Janinha Piazzetta .
Motion #1: The Sister Cities Committee recommends sending a Miami Beach delegation to
Sister City Cascais, Portugal, the approval of a budget, not to exceed $6400, to support the
delegation, and their participate in the international cultural exchange project with Dance
NOW! and Danca em Dialogos in March 8-13 , 2025 .
Motion #2: The Sister Cities Committee recommends that all funding for Sister Cities
delegation trips, inbound and outbound, be approved prior to travel.
Motion #3: The Sister Cities Committee recommends the approval of Sister Cities By-Laws .
Motion #4: The Sister Cities Committee recommends the Mayor and Commissioners
support the creation of a Lincoln Road Mardi Gras Festival on Lincoln Road similar to the
Lincoln Road Halloween Celebration; and the Sister Cities Committee will work with the
Lincoln Road Business Improvement District to align the event with Miami Beach Sister
Cities .
Motion #5: The Sister Cities Committee will suspend event planning for six (6) months .
Members present on April 7, 2025 include Moni Cohen , Fred Bean, Mattie Bower, Allison
Buttacavoli, Marcella Novela , John Ospitia, Janinha Piazzetta, and Blanca Villarello.
Motion #1: The Sister Cities Committee recommends the approval of amendments to Sister
Cities By-Laws .

Motion #2: The Sister Cities Committee recommends the approval of a budget, not to
exceed $800 for the payment of Sister Cities International (SCI) annual dues .
