A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EXTENDING THE "AD HOC LIGHTING PLAN
ADVISORY COMMITTEE," FOR AN ADDITIONAL PERIOD OF ONE YEAR,
(SUBJECT TO EARLIER OR LATER SUNSET BY THE CITY COMMISSION)
THROUGH MARCH 14, 2026, TO CONTINUE TO REVIEW EXISTING
LIGHTING INFRASTRUCTURE, IDENTIFY AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT,
AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE CITY REGARDING A
COMPREHENSIVE LIGHTING PLAN.
WHEREAS, on March 13, 2024, the Mayor and City Commission (City Commission)
approved Resolution No. 202432955, establishing the "Ad Hoc Ciry Lighting Plan Advisory
Committee"; and
WHEREAS, this Committee was to be established for one (1)year(subject to eadier or later
sunset by the City Commission), to review existing lighting infrastructure, identify areas for
improvement, and make recommendations to the City regarding a comprehensive lighting plan; and
WHEREAS, since its establishment, the Committee did not convene for its frst official
meeting until March 24, 2025, due to difficulty confirming appointees and reaching quorum; and
WHEREAS,the Administration recommends extending the Committee for an additional year,
through March 14, 2026, with the current appointed members continuing to serve in their existing
appointments, in order to provide the Committee sufficient time to fulfill its intended purpose as an
Ad Hoc Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission
hereby e#end the"Ad Hoc Lighting Plan Advisory Committee,"for an adddional penod of one year,(subject N
earlier or later sunset by the City Commission)through March 14, 2026,to continue to review exis[ing lighting
infrastructure, iden6fy areas for improvement, and make recommendations to ttie City regarding a
comprehensive lighting plan.

MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CIN CLERK TO EXTEND THE "AD HOC CITV LIGHTING PLAN ADVISORY
COMMITTEE," FOR AN ADDITIONAL YEAR, THROUGH MARCH 74, 2026, WITH
THE SAME APPOINTED MEMBERS REMAINING ON THE COMMITTEE.
RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends approving the Resolution.
BACKGROUNDIHISTORY
On March 13, 2024, the Mayor and City Commission(City Commission)approved ResoNtion No.
2024-32955 (Attachment A), establishing the "Ad HOC City Lighting Plan Advisory Committee".
This Committee was intended�o(unction(o�one (1)year(subjecl lo earlier or later sunset by the
Cily Commission), to peRortn reviews of existing lighting infrastrucWre, identi(y areas for
improvement, and make recommendations to the Ciry regarding a comprehensive lighting plan.
Since its approval, the Ad Hoc Committee has onty met once, on March 24, 2025, due lo
diffculties o( reaching quorum (quorum was reached on February 3, 2025). As such, the
Adminis[ra[ion recommends extending the Committee (or an additional year, [hrough March 13,
2026, with the same appoin[ed members remaining on the Committee.
