Resolution 2025-33620 t RESOLUTION NO. 202533620 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO ENSURE A POLICE VEHICLE PRESENCE, DURING HIGH IMPACT PERIODS AND MAJOR EVENTS, AT SENIOR HOUSING FACILITIES SUCH AS REBECCA TOWERS, IN ORDER TO ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY AND PROVIDE A VISIBLE CRIME DETERRENT. WHEREAS, the City is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, with a particular emphasis on vulnerable residents like its senior community; and WHEREAS, senior housing facililies, such as Rebecca Towers, house some of the City's most vulnerable residents, who may be more susceptible to crime and public safety concerns; and WHEREAS, high-impact periods and major events in the City of Miami Beach often result in large crowds with increased pedestrian and vehicular traffc, which can lead to heightened public safety risks in surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, senior residents have expressed concerns regarding safety and security, particularly during major events, and have requested enhanced police visibility to deter crime and ensure their well-being; and WHEREAS, the City has historically taken proactive measures to enhance public safety, and this initiative aligns with the City's ongoing commitment lo crime prevention and the protection of all its residents; and WHEREAS, a visible police presence, particularly through the strategic placement of police vehicles, serves as an effective deterrent to cnminal activity and provides reassurance to senior residents and their families; and WHEREAS, ensuring that po�ice vehicles are stationed at senior housing facilities during such critical times will reinforce the City's commitment lo public safety and crime prevention. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE qTY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, hereby direct the City Administration to ensure a police vehicle presence, during high impact periods and major events, al senior housing facilities such as Rebecca Towers, in order to enhance public safety and provide a visible crime deterrent.
