A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO
ALLOCATE RESOURCES TO ALLEVIATE FLOODING IN THE LAKEVIEW
NEIGHBORHOOD, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, INSTALLING AN
ADDITIONAL TEMPORARY STORMWATER PUMP DURING THE RAINY
SEASON AND THE MILLING OF W. SOT" STREET WEST OF CHEROKEE
AVENUE TO IMPROVE DRAINAGE AND REDUCE SURFACE FLOODING
DURING HEAW RAIN EVENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is committed to addressing infrastrucWre challenges that
impact the quality of life, safety, and resilience of its residential neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the Lakeview neighborhood has experienced persistent Flooding issues during
storm events, compromising roadway safety, accessibility, and property conditions for residents; and
WHEREAS, stormwater management and drainage improvements are essential to mitigating
the impacts of flooding and protecting the long-term habitability and sustainability of affected
neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, targeted infras[ructure enhancements such as the installation of an additional
temporary stormwater pump during the rainy season and the milling of W. 50th Street west of Cherokee
Avenue to restore effective drainage grading are necessary to reduce surface water accumulation and
improve the performance of the stormwater system in lhe Lakeview area; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission find that proadive investments in stormwater
infrastructure are in the public interest and align with the City's broader goals of climate adaptation and
infrastructure resilience.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OP MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City
Administration lo allocate resources to alleviate flooding in the Lakeview neighborhood, including, but
not limited to, the installation of an additional temporary stormwater pump during the rainy season and
the milling of W. SOth Street west of Cherokee Avenue to facilitate improved drainage and reduce
flooding during heavy rain events.
