A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A ONE-TIME GRANT IN THE
TOTAL AMOUNT OF$5,000 TO OPEN HEART, INC., A 501(C)(3) NOT-FOR-
PROFIT CORPORATION, IN SUPPORT OF THE FEBRUARY 26,2026 MIAMI
BEACH CANCER WALK; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK AND CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CITY'S STANDARD GRANT AGREEMENT
WITH RESPECT TO THE FOREGOING.
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Cancer Walk, organized by Open Heart, Inc., a 501(c)(3)
not-for-profit organization, will take place on February 26, 2026, and is designed to raise funds,
awareness, and hope for individuals and families affected by all types of cancer; and
WHEREAS, the event will commence at 77th Street at Altos Del Mar Boardwalk, proceed
south along the boardwalk, with turnaround points at 65th Street and 57th Street, and conclude
back at Altos Del Mar Park; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Miami Beach Cancer Walk is to unite communities in the
fight against cancer— "one beach walk at a time" — emphasizing that cancer never stops, and
neither should we; and
WHEREAS, all proceeds from the Miami Beach Cancer Walk will benefit Mount Sinai
Medical Center, contributing to cancer research, treatment, and patient care; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach recognizes the importance of supporting events that
foster community engagement and raise awareness for critical health issues affecting our
residents and beyond; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to support this important initiative
through the approval of a one-time grant in the amount of $5,000 to Open Heart, Inc. in support
of the 2026 Miami Beach Cancer Walk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and the City
Commission hereby approve a one-time grant in the total amount of$5,000 to Open Heart, Inc.,
a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, in support of the February 26, 2026 Miami Beach Cancer
Walk; and authorize the City Clerk and City Manager to execute the City's standard grant
agreement with respect to the foregoing.
