Resolution 2025-33631 RESOLUTION NO. 2025-33631 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO PRIORITIZE THE PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL EMERGENCY TEMPORARY STORMWATER PUMPS AND VACUUM TRUCKS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 2026 BUDGET PROCESS TO ENHANCE CITYWIDE FLOOD RESPONSE CAPABILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE RESILIENCE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach continues to experience intense rain events and rising groundwater levels that contribute to frequent and disruptive urban flooding; and WHEREAS, such flooding events pose significant challenges to public safety, traffc flow, property preservation, and the overall quality of life for residents and visitors; and WHEREAS,emergency stormwater response equipment, including temporary stormwater pumps and vacuum hucks, are critical tools for mitigating flooding during heavy rainfall and protecting infrastructure in real time; and WHEREAS, the City's current inventory of such equipment may be insufficient to meet the increasing frequency and severity of flooding events citywide; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission recognize the importance of ensuring that the City Administration is adequately equipped to respond promptly and effectivety to emergency stormwater conditions; and WHEREAS, prioritizing the acquisition of additional stormwater pumps and vacuum trucks during the FY 2026 budget process aligns with the Cirys commitment to proactive resiliency measures, stormwater management, and emergency preparedness. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Administration to prioritize ihe purchase of additional emergency temporary stormwater pumps and vacuum trucks during the Fiscal Year 2026 budget process, in order to enhance the City's capacity to respond to flooding events and safeguard public infrastructure and safety.
