Project Description
The Public Works Department submitted an application pertaining to a project to harden the water
booster pump station on Terminal Island , for advisory review by the ORB. The project involves the
installation of equipment that will improve the resilien cy and reliability of the existing water booster
pump station on Terminal Island , and in c ludes a permanent generator, rep la cement of an air
handler unit, repla cement of the perimeter fen c ing and a new access gate, and door frame
improvements.
The most visible portion of the project will be the new generator, whic h will be located immediately
to the east of the existing building. Additional infrastru cture work that is not visible from the exterior
will take pla ce inside the building and underground.
The water booster station is lo cated adjacent to the MacArthur Causeway, the F isher Island Ferry

modifications are sc reened from view along the MacArthur Causeway by large trees and shrubs
and will not impact pedestrians .
The proposed c hanges are ne cessary to improve the fun ctioning of the existing water booster
pump station and ensure that it will be resilient to natural events. Overall , the project will benefit
the surrounding neighborhood and help ensure that Miami Bea c h's potable water system fun ctions
well.
