A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, ALLOCATING $10,000 IN SEED FUNDING TO
SUPPORT THE RELAUNCH OF THE ANNUAL WOMEN'S
CONFERENCE IN CELEBRATION OF WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
2026; AND DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO
COLLABORATE WITH THE MIAMI BEACH COMMISSION FOR
WOMEN TO IDENTIFY A SUITABLE VENUE FOR THE EVENT.
WHEREAS, during her first year in office, former Mayor Matti Herrera Bower
established the City's Women's Conference as an annual celebration of women's
leadership, contributions, and history; and
WHEREAS, the Women's Conference (the "Event" or the "Conference") became
a hallmark event held during National Women's History Month each March, and
continued throughout Mayor Bower's tenure; and
WHEREAS, the Conference featured dynamic and influential women speakers, a
luncheon showcasing the artistry and talent of extraordinary women chefs, and
programming honoring outstanding women who shaped Florida's history; and
WHEREAS, reinstating this impactful tradition would reflect the City's ongoing
commitment to gender equity, civic engagement, and the celebration of women's
achievements across all sectors; and
WHEREAS, in April 2025, the Mayor and City Commission adopted a Resolution
directing the City Administration to work with the Miami Beach Commission for Women
to bring back the annual Women's Conference for Women's History Month 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to allocate $10,000 in seed
funding to support the relaunch of the annual Women's Conference in celebration of
Women's History Month 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission further wish to direct the City
Administration to collaborate with the Miami Beach Commission for Women to identify a
suitable venue for the Event, including working with the Parks & Recreation Department
staff to explore the possibility of modifying or rescheduling an existing event at the
Convention Center, if necessary, in order to accommodate and prioritize this Event.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby allocate $10,000 in seed funding to support the relaunch of the
annual Women's Conference in celebration of Women's History Month 2026; and direct
the City Administration to collaborate with the Miami Beach Commission for Women to
identify a suitable venue for the Event. y� '/
