A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.2024-33134 TO
CORRECT A SCRIVENER'S ERROR TO CLARIFY THAT ATTENDANCE AT
CITY-SPONSORED SENIOR EVENTS SHALL BE LIMITED TO ELECTED
OFFICIALS AND ASPIRING CANDIDATES WHO HAVE OFFICIALLY
REGISTERED AS CANDIDATES.
WHEREAS,the City of Miami Beach hosts four large senior events each year at the Miami
Beach Convention Center,including the Senior Holiday Party,Senior Prom,Senior Summer
Bash,and the Senior Police Ball;and
WHEREAS,Resolution No.2024-33134 was enacted to permit City Commissioners and
candidates for election to attend these senior events with one additional guest while restricting
the distribution of promotional materials to designated tables outside the event space;and
WHEREAS,the original resolution contained a scrivener's error that may be interpreted
to allow attendance by individuals who have not officially registered as candidates for election,
contrary to the intent of the Mayor and City Commission;and
WHEREAS,to maintain the integrity and purpose of these senior events,the Mayor and
City Commission seek to amend Resolution No.2024-33134 to clarify that attendance shall be
limited to elected officials and only those aspiring candidates who have officially registered as
candidates.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby amend Resolution No.2024-33134 to correct a scrivener's error to clarify
that attendance at City-sponsored senior events shall be limited to elected officials and aspiring
candidates who have officially registered as candidates.
