RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, CENSURING FORMER SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE MEMBER
JOHANN MOORE; CONDEMNING HIS RECENT INCENDIARY REMARKS IN THE
STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS; AND REASSURING RESIDENTS THAT THEIR
SAFETY AND CONFIDENCE IN CITY GOVERNMENT WILL BE MAINTAINED BY
THEIR MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, Johann Moore served on the City's Sustainability Committee until his recent
resignation on June 17, 2025; and
WHEREAS, members of our City's boards and committees are expected to uphold Miami
Beach's values of civility, mutual respect, and public responsibility while serving in an advisory capacity
to the City Commission and the public; and
WHEREAS, on June 13, 2025, Mr. Moore sent a communication to the full City Commission in
which he shockingly declared, "My husband joins me in congratulating Iran on its successful missile
strikes against the genocidal Zionist regime. I urge Iran to nuke Zionist-held population centres; dirty
bombs suffcing if fssion warheads aren't yet ready to pursue defeat of the occupation regime[;]' and
WHEREAS, Mr. Moore's open advocacy for nuclear and radiological attacks againstthe world's
one and only Jewish state is eztreme, violent, incendiary, and, in fact, mirrors the threats of genocidal
tevorist organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Ciry of Miami Beach is a diverse, civil, and compassionate community - home
to a significant Jewish population-and stands frtnly against all forms of hatred,violence,and genocidal
rhetoric; and
WHEREAS, M�. Moore's incendiary statements constitute a flagrant violation of the moral
standards expected of anyone serving on a City advisory board and undermine the credibility our City
govemment, if left without firm condemnation.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
qTY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby censure former
Sustainability Committee member Johann Moore; condemn his recent incendiary remarks in the
strongest possible terms; and reassure residents that their safety and confidence in City govemment
will be maintained by their Mayor and City Commission.
