Resolution 2025-33724 RESOLUTION NO. 202533724 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EXTENDING, ON A MONTH-TO- MONTH BASIS AND FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED SIX(6) MONTHS, THE CURRENT TOWING PERMITS, WHICH ARE SET TO EXPIRE ON JULY 31, 2025, WITH THE CITY'S TWO (2) TOWING PERMITTEES: (I) BEACH TOWING SERVICES, INC., AND (II) TREMONT TOWING, INC. WHEREAS, Chapter 106, Article V, Division 2 of the Miami Beach City Code (the "Code"), provides for the issuance by the City Commission of towing permits for the towing of vehicles identified by the City as requiring removal from the public way; and WHEREAS, on June 22, 2022, via Resolution No. 2022-32206, the Mayor and City Commission approved the issuance of new towing permits (the "Towing Permits"), in accordance with the Administrative Rules and Regulations for the Police and Parking Department ("the Administrative Rules"), to the following entities (the "Permittees"): (1) Beach Towing Services, Inc. and (2) Tremont Towing, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the Towing Permits were issued for an initial term of three (3) years, effective August 1, 2022,with a renewal option for an additional term of three(3)years, subject to the prior approval of the Mayor and City Commission; and WHEREAS, the Permittees are the only hvo service providers which satisfy all the requirements in the Code and Administrative Rules, including the requirement to provide vehicle storage facilities within the City limits; and WHEREAS, the removal of improperly parked and disabled vehicles is a necessary tool for the Police Department and Parking Department to properly manage traffic and parking throughout the City; and WHEREAS, the City Administration is currently working with the Permittees to address pending issues and updates to the Administrative Rules; and WHEREAS, the Administration recommends extending the Towing Permits, on a month-to-month basis and for a period not to exceed six (6) months, while the City Administration continues working with the Permittees to address the pending issues and updates.
