A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO
ROTATE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIVE AND MENTAL HEALTH SIGNAGE AT
BAYSHORE PARK ON A BI-ANNUAL BASIS.
WHEREAS, Bayshore Park is a 19.4acre facility currently under construction and set to
open in the Fall of 2025; and
WHEREAS, the park is strategically located beriveen Miami Beach Senior High School
and the Scott Rakow Youth Center, ensuring that it will serve as an accessible recreational area
for numerous teenagers and other youth residing within Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the design for Bayshore Park includes an expansive jogging trail that
encircles and borders various sections of the park, notably incorporating a buttertly garden; and
WHEREAS, butterfly gardens are universally recognized as tranquil sanctuaries that
promote relaxation, meditation, and appreciation of nature; and
WHEREAS, at the request of the City's Advisory Youth Commission, the City Commission
previously directed City Administration to design and install positive aRirmation and mental health
signage along the jogging trail adjacent to the buttertly garden, thereby utilizing these calming
spaces as platforms for mental health education; and
WHEREAS, the intended signage is meant to serve as both a validating and educational
tool by raising awareness about mental health, destigmatizing mental health struggles and
burnout, and providing visitors with insights into coping strategies, mindfulness practices, and
available community resources; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed beneficial to the ongoing mission of promoting mental wellness
and sustained community engagement that the positive affirmation signage be updated and
rotated on a biannual basis in order to maintain its impact and relevance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE qTY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, thal the Mayor and City
Commission hereby direct the City Administration to rotate positive affrmative and mental health
signage at Bayshore Park on a bi-annual basis.
