RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO
IDENTIFY AND IMPLEMENT WITHIN ALL DEPARTMENTS COST SAVINGS
AND EFFICIENCY MEASURES THAT DO NOT NEGATIVELY AFFECT THE
LEVEL OF SERVICE PROVIDED TO RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES IN THE
CITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is committed to being prudent and fiscally
responsible; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires that the City Administration, including the City
Manager and Department Directors, identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency measures
within all departments to ensure the City's budget is managed effectively; and
WHEREAS, these measures could include, by way of ezample, evaluating underutilized
subscriptions, soflware agreements, hardware, and other resources to identify cost-saving
opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager, in conjunction with the Police Department, should evaluate
if there are jobs, roles, or responsibilities that non-sworn, civilian personnel can pertorm at a lower
overall cost; and
WHEREAS, additional cost-saving measures may include optimizing energy usage,
reducing overtime expenses, consolidating services, renegotiating vendor contracts, and
implementing technology solutions to streamline operations; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that these cost-saving and effciency measures do not
negatively affect the level of service provided to residents and businesses in the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Adminis[ration shall provide quarterly reports to the Mayor and Ciry
Commission on the progress of identifying and implementing these cost-saving and efficiency
measures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the
City Administration to identify and implement within all department cost savings and efficiency
measures that do not negatively affect the level of service provided to residents and businesses
in the City.
