A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO DEVELOP A
PLAQUE PROGRAM FOR HISTORICALLY DESIGNATED HOMES AND
PUBLIC BUILDINGS IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, SIMILAR TO THE
PROGRAM OF THE CITY OF CORAL GABLES, AND TO BRING THE
PROGRAM BACK TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION FOR
APPROVAL AND POTENTIAL FUNDING.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is committed to preserving its rich historical
heritage and recognizing the significance of historically designated homes and public buildings;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Coral Gables has successfully implemented a plaque program
that highlights and honors historically designated properties, thereby promoting historical
awareness and community pride; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach seeks to establish a similar plaque program to
acknowledge and celebrate i�s own historically designated homes and public buildings; and
WHEREAS, the plaque program will involve the design, production, and installation of
plaques on designated properties, informing the public of the historical significance of each site;
and
WHEREAS, the program will be developed by the City Administration to ensure
accuracy and inclusivity, and approved, with potential funding, by the Mayor and City
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Administretion program should inform residents and property owners
about the plaque program through official City communication channels, designed to reach
potential property owners and stake holders; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby direct the City Administration to develop a plaque program for historically
designated homes and public buildings in the City of Miami Beach, similar to the program of the
City of Coral Gables, and to bring the program back to the Mayor and City Commission for
approvaland potentialfunding.
