A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATION TO INCLUDE FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF
$100,000 AS A POSSIBLE BUDGET ENHANCEMENT DURING THE FY
2026 BUDGET PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION AND
INSTALLATION OF TWO NEW EXHIBITIONS FOR GALERIA OCEAN
DRIVE DURING FISCAL YEAR 2026.
WHEREAS, Galeria Ocean Drive was launched on November 11, 2024, with the
"Boot Camp in Paradise: World War II in Miami Beach" exhibition, which highlighted the
historical signifcance of Miami Beach during World War II; and
WHEREAS, the "Boot Camp in Paradise: World War II in Miami Beach" exhibition
was well-received by the public and has contributed to the cultural and historical
enrichment of the community; and
WHEREAS, on June 12, 2025, a new exhibition, "100 Years of Art Deco," was
launched at Galeria Ocean Drive, celebrating the centennial anniversary ofthe 1925 Paris
expo that introduced art deco to the world and heralded the golden age of tropical art
deco in Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the "100 Years of Art Deco" exhibition has garnered significant
attention and appreciation from residents and visitors alike, further establishing Galeria
Ocean Drive as a premier cultural destination; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach recognizes the importance of continuing to
support and enhance cultural and historical exhibitions that contribute to the community's
cultural landscape and attract visitors; and
WHEREAS, the production and installation of two new exhibitions for Galeria
Ocean Drive during fiscal year 2026 will require funding in the amount of$100,000; and
WHEREAS, including this funding in the FY 2026 budget will ensure the continued
success and growth of Galeria Ocean Drive as a cultural and historical hub; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to include this item for
consideration as a possible budget enhancement during the FY 2025 budget process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, hereby direct the City Administration to
include funding in the amount of$100,000 as a possible budget enhancement during the
FY 2026 budget process for the production and installation of two new exhibitions for
Galeria Ocean Drive during fiscal year 2026.
