A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, APPROVING A ONE-TIME GRANT OF $25,000 TO THE MIAMI
BEACH POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE TO HELP OFFSET COSTS
ASSOCIATED WITH PENDING AUDITS FOR THE PAST TWO FISCAL YEARS
AS THE ORGANIZATION TR,4NSITIONS TO NEW LEADERSHIP; DIRECTING
THE ADMINISTRATION TO IDENTIFY FUNDING FOR THIS GRANT IN THE
FISCAL YEAR 2025 BUDGET; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK AND
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CITY'S STANDARD GRANT
AGREEMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE FOREGOING.
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Police Athletic League (PAL) plays a vital role in fostering
positive relationships between law enforcement and local youth through menlorship, recreational
programming, and community engagement initiatives; and
WHEREAS, PAL is currently undergoing a leadership transition while managing financial
burdens related lo the costs of completing audits for the past two fiscal years, which are necessary
to ensure continued compliance, financial transparency, and operetional efficiency; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach City Commission recognizes the importance of supporting
PAL during this period of transition and wishes to provide financial assistance to help the
organization fulfill its audit obligations and maintain its core mission of serving Ihe Miami Beach
community; and
WHEREAS, the total grant amount is $25,000, which will allow PAL to address its
outstanding audit expenses and proceed with its leadership transition without disrupting its
essential programs; and
WHEREAS, funding for this grant shall be identified within the Fiscal Year 2025 budget
and administered pursuant to the City's standard grant agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve a one-time grant of $25,000 to the Miami Beach Police Athletic
League to offset costs associated with pending audits for the past hvo fiscal years as the
organization transitions to new leadership; direct the Administration to identify funding for this
grant in the Fiscal Year 2025 budgek and authorize the City Clerk and City Manager to exeate
the City's standard grant agreement with respect to the foregoing.
