SUBJECT: 2025 Crime Reduction Trends
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission (L TC) is to provide an update on the efforts
and additional measures taken by the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) to reduce
crime and enhance public safety across our city. These efforts reflect the Department's
ongoing commitment to maintaining a secure and vibrant community for residents, visitors,
and businesses alike.
Since January 1, 2025, the MBPD has implemented a series of enhanced strategies,
including increased neighborhood patrols, data-driven deployment models, community
engagement initiatives, and targeted enforcement operations. These collective efforts
have produced measurable results in key crime categories.
As of July 6, 2025, Miami Beach has experienced a notable 16.32% reduction in total
major crimes year-to-date.
Specific highlights include:
•Auto Theft: Down by 24.34%
•Burglaries: Down by 20.14%
•Frauds: Down by 24.91 %
•Thefts: Down by 14.33%
•Vehicle Burglaries: Down by 37.12%
These significant reductions across multiple crime categories underscore the success of
a proactive policing model and the dedicated work of the men and women of the MBPD.
The data also reflects the value of strong collaboration with our community partners and
continued support from the City Commission.
Moving forward, the MBPD will continue this enhanced effort, further investing in crime
prevention technologies, intelligence-led policing, and partnerships with local stakeholders
to sustain and improve upon these positive trends.
