Granado, City Clerk July 22, 2025 Mayor's 41 st Street Blue Ribbon Committee -Support for Resolution Supporting Parklets Near 41 st Street The purpose of this Letter to the Commission ("L TC") is to inform the City Commission of the unanimous consensus expressed by members of the Mayor's 41 st Street Blue Ribbon Committee during the July 17, 2025 meeting, for Commissioner Alexander Fernandez's resolution (attached), which proposes the installation of public parklets along the 4000 block of Royal Palm Avenue, Prairie Avenue, and Chase Avenue to support small restaurants near 41 st Street. Although a quorum was not present, the committee members in attendance expressed strong support for the resolution's goals, including the evaluation and potential relocation of the existing Citi Bike station on Chase Avenue to facilitate parklet implementation. Members highlighted the importance of creative solutions to support small businesses facing space limitations and praised the resolution's effort to enhance pedestrian-friendly amenities and public activation in the corridor. Any questions about the foregoing may be directed to Steven Anthony, Economic Development Director, stevenanthony@miamibeachfl.gov SNLW/VH GT~E Docusign Envelope ID: 657 47 4AC-1131-4B08-ADFE-C91FD1 F2943E RESOLUTION NO. _____ _ A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING SMALL RESTAURANTS NEAR 41ST STREET, BY PERMITTING THE INSTALLATION OF PARKLETS ON THE 4000 BLOCK OF ROYAL PALM AVENUE, PRAIRIE AVENUE, AND CHASE AVENUE; AND DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO EVALUATE THE RELOCATION OF THE EXISTING CITI BIKE STATION ON CHASE AVENUE, IF NECESSARY, TO FACILITATE SAID PARKLETS. WHEREAS, food establishments along 41 st Street contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of the City and represent important culinary and community assets; and WHEREAS, these businesses face spatial and operational limitation s that could be addressed through the installation of public parklets to expand avai lab le seating and pedestrian- friendly amenities; and WHEREAS, the potential parklet locations along the 4000 block of Royal Palm Avenue, Prairie Avenue, and Chase Avenue are adjacent to impacted establishments and provide feasible areas for activation; and WHEREAS, the current location of the Citi Bike station on Chase Avenue may present physical barriers to implementing such parklets and, if deemed necessary, the City Administration is hereby directed to evaluate alternat ive loc at ions to relocate said station; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission seek to support local restaurants near 41 st Street by permitting the installation of parklets on the 4000 block of Royal Pa lm Avenue, Prairie Avenue, and Chase Avenue; and direct the City Administration to evaluate the relocation of the ex ist ing Citi Bike station on Chase Avenue, if necessary, to facilitate said parklets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby declare support for small restaurants near 41 st Street, by permitting the installation of parklets on the 4000 block of Royal Palm Avenue, Prairie Avenue, and Chase Avenue; and direct the City Administration to evaluate the relocation of the existing Citi Bike station on Chase Avenue, if necessary, to facilitate said parklets.
