RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO
PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON THEIMPACT OF THE RECENTLY ENACTED
FEDERAL "ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL" ON PUBLIC HEALTHCARE CLINICS
AND PROGRAMS IN OUR CITY AND PROVIDE POTENTIAL OPTIONS FOR
CITY FUNDING TO CLOSE THE BUDGETARY GAPS CREATED BY THIS
LEGISLATION AT THE SEPTEMBER 3, 2025 CITY COMMISSION MEETING.
WHEREAS, the "One Big Beautiful Bill" ("OBBB") is recently enacted federal legislation
proposed by President Donald J. Trump and approved by the United States Congress in 2025,
framed as a sweeping pro-growth and deregulation package intended to promote economic
development, reduce regulatory burdens, and realign federal-local policy priorities; and
WHEREAS, the legislation includes provisions that reduce or eliminate funding to federal
health care initiatives and programs, including, but not limited to, Medicare and Medicaid; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is home to public health clinics and programs that
may suffer funding gaps as a result of the passage of OBBB; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission find it critical to evaluate the potential fiscal
and operational consequences of OBBB on public healthcare availability in the City and to
evaluate whelher and to what extent the Ciry may fund these facilities and programs to close the
gap created by these cuts; and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission therefore desire to receive a comprehensive
update from the City Administration at the September 3, 2025, City Commission meeting
regarding the known impacts of the Big Beautifui Bill on public healthcare programs in our City,
and to consider possible funding to bridge these gaps created by OBBB.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE qTY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that Mayor and City Commission direct �he City
Administration to provide an update on the impact of the recently enacted federal "One Big
Beautiful Bill" on public healthcare clinics and programs in our City and provide potential options
for City funding to close the budgetary gaps created by this legislation at the September 3, 2025
City Commission meeling.
