A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO RETROACTIVELY ACCEPT THE IN-KIND DONATION OF A
TOTAL OF FORTY-TWO (42) STANDARD HOTEL ROOMS FROM THE
LOEWS MIAMI BEACH HOTEL, OPERATING COMPANY INC., WHICH
HAVE AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $8,358.00, FIFTEEN (15) STANDARD
HOTEL ROOMS FROM THE 1 HOTEL SOUTH BEACH, INC., WHICH HAVE
AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $5,985.00, NINE (9) STANDARD HOTEL ROOM
NIGHTS FROM THE EDITION MANAGEMENT LLC, WHICH HAVE AN
ESTIMATED VALUE OF $3,591.00, NINE (9) STANDARD ROOM NIGHTS
FROM THE W SOUTH BEACH, WHICH HAVE AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF
$3,591.00, TWELVE (12) STANDARD ROOM NIGHTS AT THE MONDRIAN
SOUTH BEACH HOTEL WHICH HAVE AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF$3,588.00,
AND NINE (9) STANDARD ROOM NIGHTS AT THE CASA FAENA MIAMI
BEACH, WHICH HAVE AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $891.00, FOR USE
SOLELY BY ESSENTIAL CITY STAFF ASSIGNED TO WORK AND PROVIDE
SUPPORT AND OVERSIGHT DURING THE HIGH IMPACT WEEKENDS IN
MARCH AND MAY 2025 (SPRING BREAK AND MEMORIAL DAY
WEEKEND).
WHEREAS, consistent with previous years, the City of Miami Beach (the "City")
implemented City-wide planning efforts for Spring Break and Memorial Day weekends, which
took place during three (3) high-impact weekends in March 2025 as well as Memorial Day
Weekend in May 2025; and
WHEREAS, historically, the City has played host to more than 100,000 visitors and
spectators across each of these weekends; and
WHEREAS, to provide the required support and oversight for these weekends, the
City's management team, as well as various City departments, including Parking, Code
Compliance, Public Works, Sanitation, Facilities and Fleet, Fire/Rescue, Parks & Recreation,
Tourism and Culture, City Mangers' Office, and the Police Department, are required to work
through these weekends across various unconventional shifts; and
WHEREAS, during Memorial Day Weekend 2025, the City hosted the National Salute
to America's Heroes Air & Sea Show, which is being produced across a large footprint on
Ocean Drive, Lummus Park, and the nearby beachfront; and
WHEREAS, as a result, the City provided enhanced staffing across most City
departments to ensure continuity in normal operations, while also ensuring safe and enjoyable
weekends for the City's residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, essential City employees and members of the City's leadership team were
expected to be on call and available all day throughout the weekends; and
WHEREAS, as has been done in prior years, to address the need for extended work
hours and the need to have essential City employees readily available, the City partnered with
local hotels to provide lodging for essential City staff; and
WHEREAS, Loews Miami Beach Hotel Operating Company, Inc., donated forty-two
(42) standard hotel room nights, which have an estimated value of$8,358.00; and
WHEREAS, Hotel 1 South Beach, INC., donated fifteen (15) standard hotel room
nights, which have an estimated value of$5,985.00; and
WHEREAS, Edition Management LLC, donated nine (9) standard hotel room nights,
which have an estimated value of$3,591.00; and
WHEREAS, The W South Beach, donated nine (9) standard hotel room nights, which
have an estimated value of$3,591.00; and
WHEREAS, Mondrian South Beach Hotel, donated tweive (12) standard hotel room
nights, which have an estimated value of$3,588.00; and
WHEREAS, Casa Faena Miami Beach, donated nine (9) standard hotel rooms, which
have an estimated value of$891.00; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends that the City Commission approve
and authorize the City Manager to retroactively accept this in-kind donation of hotel rooms,
which were used by essential City staff who worked these high-impact weekends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and authorize the City Manager to retroactively accept the in-kind
donation of a total of forty-finro (42) standard hotel rooms from the Loews Miami Beach Hotel,
Operating Company Inc., which have an estimated value of $8,358.00, fifteen (15) standard
hotel rooms from the 1 Hotel South Beach, Inc., which have an estimated value of$5,985.00,
nine (9) standard hotel room nights from the Edition Management LLC, which have an
estimated value of$3,591.00, nine (9) standard room nights from the W South Beach, which
have an estimated value of$3,591.00, twelve (12) standard room nights at the Mondrian South
Beach Hotel which have an estimated value of$3,588.00, and nine (9) standard room nights
at the Casa Faena Miami Beach, which have an estimated value of$891.00, for use solely by
essential City staff assigned to work and provide support and oversight during the high impact
weekends in March and May 2025 (Spring Break and Memorial Day Weekend).

BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Historically, the City has played host to more than 100,000 guests, visitors, and spectators on

enhanced and increased staffing is necessary across departments to ensure continuity in normal
operations, while also ensuring safe and enjoyable weekends for the Ciry's residents and visitors.

ANALYSIS
In preparation for the March 2025 Spring Break and Memorial Day Weekend, the City partnered
with local hotels to provide lodging for essential City staff, accepting in-kind donation of a total
of forty-two (42) standard hotel room nights, which have an estimated value of$8,358.00 from

Loews Miami Beach Hotel Operating Company, Inc., fifteen (15) standard hotel room nights,
which have an estimated value of$5,985.00 from HOTEL 1 South Beach, INC, nine (9) standard
hotel room nights, which have an estimated value of$7,182.00 from THE EDITION Management
LLC., nine (9)standard hotel room nights,which have a value of$3,591 from The W South Beach,
twelve (12) standard hotel room nights, which have an estimated value of$3,588 from Mondrian
South Beach Hotel, and nine (9) standard hotel room nights, which have an estima#ed value of
$891.00 from Casa Faena Miami Beach. These donations were exclusively used by essential City
staff required to work extended hours or remain on call and available due to the high operational
demands of these weekends.
