The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide an update to the Mayor and City Commission regarding the commencement of construction activities for the Lincoln Road District Redevelopment project, Phase 2 Drexel Ave Improvements. On February 3, 2025, the City Commission awarded the Invitation to Bid (1TB) 2025-086-ND for the Drexel Avenue Improvements to Buslam Company Partners, Inc. (Buslam) and on May 16, 2025, City staff issued Notice to Proceed 1 (NTP 1) for pre-construction activities. Upon completion of permitting and receipt of prerequisite submittals, the City issued NTP 2 to Buslam effective July 24, 2025, to commence construction activities. The construction duration is 10 months with the anticipated completion scheduled for May 2026. Drexel Avenue improvements include streetscape improvements from 16 St. to Lincoln Lane South and the pedestrianization of Drexel Avenue from Lincoln Lane South to Lincoln Lane North. The scope of work includes storm drainage installation, paving, striping, pavers, landscaping, hardscape, irrigation, lighting and pedestrian access with a new outdoor performance space at Lincoln Road. Temporary construction fencing has been installed and Buslam has started the underground work. Pedestrian access for the Lincoln Road corridor (East/West) is available along the north side of the corridor and will be restored along the south side as soon as the underground work is completed. Construction schedule may change due to inclement weather or unexpected conditions. A ground breaking ceremony is being coordinated and will be announced at a later date.
