A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATION TO WORK WITH THE ORGANIZERS OF THE MIAMI
SHORES HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE TO SUPPORT THE EXPANSION OF
THE PARADE ROUTE TO INCLUDE NORMANDY ISLES, AND TO
IMPLEMENT AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AND COMMUNITY WATCH
PARTY AT NORMANDY SHORES PARK; AND FURTHER DIRECTING
THE ADMINISTRATION TO COORDINATE WITH THE NORMANDY
SHORES PARK HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION TO HOST AND
MAINTAIN EVENT INFORMATION ON ITS WEBSITE.
WHEREAS, the North Beach Holiday of Miracles Boat Parade ("Boat Parade")was
an annual community tradition held every December, featuring decorated and lighted
vessels that traverse local waterways but has not taken place since the COVID-19
pandemic; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Shores Holiday Boat Parade, which supports patients at
Holtz Children's Hospital, has grown into a celebrated event with over 25 participating
boats, multiple house parties, a public watch party at Miami Shores Bayfront park,
thousands of toys collected, and families from Holtz Children's Hospital in attendance,
creating a magical holiday experience filled with lights, music, and community spirit; and
WHEREAS, the organizers of the Miami Shores Holiday Boat Parade have
expressed interest in expanding the parade route to include Normandy Isles in Miami
Beach, thereby bringing the event's festive atmosphere and charitable mission to
additional neighboring communities; and
WHEREAS, this year's parade is scheduled for December 6, 2025, and the
proposed expansion would include a watch party hosted at Normandy Shores Park,
offering a new opportunity for Miami Beach residents to enjoy the event and support its
charitable cause; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to bring greater awareness and
community engagement to the Boat Parade's return to Miami Beach waters, and to
encourage participation in the charitable efforts benefiting Holtz Children's Hospital; and
WHEREAS, the Administration is hereby directed to work with the event organizers
to implement an awareness campaign for the Boat Parade and promote the Normandy
Shores Park watch party, utilizing the City's official website, social media channels, and
printed materials, if feasible; and
WHEREAS, the Administration is further directed to coordinate with the Normandy
Shores Park Homeowners Association ("HOA") to host and maintain Boat Parade
information on the HOA's website, ensuring residents have access to up-to-date event
details.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and the City
Commission hereby direct the City Administration to work with the organizers of the Miami
Shores Holiday Boat Parade to support the expansion of the parade route to include North
Beach, and to implement an awareness campaign and community watch party at
Normandy Shores Park; and further directing the Administration to coordinate with the
Normandy Shores Park Homeowners Association to host and maintain event information
on its website.
