Miami Beach Enhances Emergency Response Capabilities with High-Water
Vehicles
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform the Mayor and City Commission that
the City of Miami Beach has expanded its emergency preparedness with the recent acquisition of
two refurbished high-water vehicles, thanks to a grant awarded to the Miami Beach Fire
Department. One vehicle will be assigned to the Miami Beach Police Department and the other
to the Fire Department, ensuring both agencies are equipped to respond during flood
emergencies.
These specialized military-grade vehicles will be deployed in situations where flooding poses a
risk to residents and visitors, particularly in the event that evacuations are necessary. Designed
to operate in high water, they provide first responders with the ability to safely reach and
transport individuals from areas impacted by storm surge, heavy rainfall or king tides.
Should you have any questions, please contact Fire Chief Digna Abello.
