Miami Beach OnStage!
Miami Beach Regional Library (227 22nd Street)
6:30 PM -9:00 PM
In the Belly of the Bird/Godmother is a live poetic dance-theater performance about
memory, grief, and transformation, honoring mothers and the stories they carry across
generations. Choreographer Pioneer Winter at 37 -the same age his mother died -
begins to reckon with what is carried, what is inherited, and what we long to recover.
Performed in partnership with City of Miami Beach OnStage! and by a multigenerational
ensemble of performers, the piece blends original choreography by Winter, with
fragments of Isadora Duncan's historic works, layered with spoken word, sound collage,
and community-sourced storytelling through partnership with 0, Miami.
Pioneer Winter Collective (PWC) is a physically integrated and intergenerational dance
theater company that creates performances in public spaces, museums and galleries,
stages, schools, and film. Winter was named in Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch" and
received awards from Creative Capital, New England Foundation of the Arts, National
Performance Network, MAP Fund, and the Mellon Foundation.
Miami Beach OnStage!, the city's most extensive free performing and visual arts
program featuring live performances and site-specific temporary art installations in Miami
Beach's beautiful parks, pedestrian streets, and other unexpected locations. These
culturally diverse experiences include music, movies, dance, performance, and art.
