KEILA MENA -{c,y-Rafael E. Granaa , City Clerk
DATE: October 10, 2025
SUBJECT: Police/Citizens Relations Committee
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform the Mayor & City Commission of a
recent motion passed by the Police/Citizens Relations Committee at their October 07, 2025
meeting.
STATEMENT
On September 9th, Deborah Martineau attended our PCRC meeting and gave a presentation on
the Police Athletic League.
The PAL is a crucial safe space for some of the youth of our city. Countless families in Miami
Beach rely on the PAL. Its positive knock-on effects are felt within our community and businesses.
It is a vital part of our city.
We are very concerned that the PAL has lost $350,000 of federal funding. We, the PCRC,
respectfully request the City Commission, to find a way to replace the lost $350,000 to adequately
fund the PAL to successfully continue their critical work for our city's youth.
