UPCOMING NOVEMBER 2025 PARKS AND RECREATION SPECIAL EVENTS
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide information on the Parks and
Recreation Department's November 2025 Special Events. Please see below for event details.
Event: Commissioner Mark Samuelian Memorial Scholastic Chess Tournament
Date: November 16, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. (check-in time 9:30 a.m.)
Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Open to aspiring chess players in grades K to 12. The tournament offers trophies for up to 10
places in each division (K-5 and Middle / High School) based upon registration. This event is free,
but pre-registration is required and is limited. There will be no registrations at the door. Tables will
be available for open play. This tournament is being held in memory of Commissioner Mark
Samuelian. Click here to register
