Granado N DATE: SUBJECT: November 12, 2025 Motion from the Ad Hoc Sanitation Advisory Committee from the October 23, 2025 meeting. The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide you with the motion made during the October 23, 2025, Ad Hoc Sanitation Advisory Committee meeting. Attendance: David Doebler, Michael DeFilippi, Laura Levey, George Ruiz, Alvaro Rueda, Alyssa Berthaoumieux, Francys Vallecillo, Michael Clark. Items discussed: Members of the Ad Hoc Sanitation Committee (Ad Hoc) have identified ways to enhance sanitation operations throughout the City. The Public Works Sanitation Division currently funds two Code Compliance Officer positions, primarily tasked with performing general code compliance enforcement. Ad Hoc members have recommended assigning at least one officer exclusively to sanitation-related enforcement or oversight. The duties would include: •Enforcing illegal dumping and littering regulations •Enforcing recycling and contamination regulations •Maintaining alleyway cleanliness •Managing overflowing dumpsters and containers •Supporting the City's broader waste reduction and cleanliness goals Motion: To have one code compliance officer assigned exclusively to sanitation and related enforcement oversight.
