Members of the Ad Hoc Sanitation Committee (Ad Hoc) have identified ways to enhance sanitation
operations throughout the City. The Public Works Sanitation Division currently funds two Code
Compliance Officer positions, primarily tasked with performing general code compliance
enforcement. Ad Hoc members have recommended assigning at least one officer exclusively to
sanitation-related enforcement or oversight. The duties would include:
•Enforcing illegal dumping and littering regulations
•Enforcing recycling and contamination regulations
•Maintaining alleyway cleanliness
•Managing overflowing dumpsters and containers
•Supporting the City's broader waste reduction and cleanliness goals
Motion: To have one code compliance officer assigned exclusively to sanitation and related
enforcement oversight.
