RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2025-33810,
ELECTING COMMISSIONER JOSEPH MAGAZINE, GROUP VI, AS VICE-
MAYOR, FOR A TERM OF AUGUST 1, 2025 THROUGH NOVEMBER 30, 2025;
EXTENDING HIS VICE-MAYOR TERM THROUGH DECEMBER 15, 2025, TO
ENSURE CONTINUITY OF SERVICE DURING THE INTERIM PERIOD PRIOR TO
THE SWEARING-IN OF THE NEXT COMMISSIONER IN GROUP I.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission established a policy of rotating the position
of Vice-Mayor every four months; and
WHEREAS, on July 23, 2025, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2025-33810,
electing Commissioner Joseph Magazine as Vice-Mayor, for a term commencing on August 1,
2025, and terminating on November 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the next group in the Vice-Mayor rotation is Group I, currently held by
Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, who is term-limited and will vacate the seat upon the
expiration of her term on December 15, 2025; and
WHEREAS,the newly elected Commissionerfar Group I will not be sworn in until December
15, 2025, creating a gap in representation for the Vice-Mayor position from December 1 through
December 14, 2025; and
WHEREAS, to ensure continuity in the Vice-Mayor role and avoid a vacancy during this
interim period, the Mayor and City Commission find it in the best interest of the City to extend
Commissioner Magazine's term as Vice-Mayor through December 15, 2025.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, amending Resolution No. 2025-33810, electing
Commissioner Joseph Magazine, Group VI, as Vice-Mayor, for a term of August 1, 2025 through
November 30, 2025; extending his Vice-Mayor term through December 15, 2025, to ensure
continuity of service during the interim period prior to the swearing-in of the next Commissioner in
Group I.

Adopt the Resolution.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
The Mayor and City Commission established a policy of rotating the position of Vice-Mayor every
four months.
On July 23, 2025, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2025-33810, electing
Commissioner Joseph Magazine as Vice-Mayor, for a term commencing on August 1, 2025, and
terminating on November 30, 2025.
The next group in the Vice-Mayor rotation is Group I, currently held by Commissioner Kristen
Rosen Gonzalez, who is term-limited and will vacate the seat upon the expiration of her term on
December 15, 2025.
The newly elected Commissioner for Group I will not be sworn in until December 15, 2025,
creating a gap in representation for the Vice-Mayor position from December 1 through December
14, 2025. To ensure continuity in the Vice-Mayor role and prevent a vacancy during the interim
period, we recommend extending Commissioner Magazine's term as Vice-Mayor through
December 15, 2025, as it serves the best interest of the City.
