Carpenter, City Manager � November 17, 2025 Partnership Donations City of Miami Beach Scholarship Fund The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to update you on donations received to support the City of Miami Beach Scholarship Fund for residents attending Miami Dade College (MDC)approved via Resolutions 2024-33273 and 2024-33308. Per Resolution 2022-32149, the City Manager may accept donations for the benefit of the City inthe amount of $7,500 or less, including in-kind donations calculated in the amount of $7,500 orless, to the extent permitted by law, via letter to commission. The Miami Beach Chamber EducationFoundation, Inc. and Mrs. Deborah Martineau, in honor of her belated husband, Arthur Martineau,have expressed interest in partnering with the City to support the City of Miami Beach ScholarshipFund with a donation of $3,000 and $1,000 respectively for the 2025-26 school year. With these donations, the total amount of funding allocated from the City for this partnership with Miami Dade College is $34,000 which will be matched 2:1 by the Miami Dade College Foundation,for a total scholarship funding amount of $102,000 to be shared amongst eligible Miami Beachresidents attending Miami Dade College in the 2025-2026 school year. The Miami DadeCollege Foundation has a long-standing reputation for providing scholarships and financialassistance to students who face financial barriers to accessing higher education. The provision offunding for this college scholarship will help ensure that Miami Beach residents have theopportunity to achieve their educational goals and contribute positively to our community. The City of Miami Beach Scholarship Fund will be provided to eligible Miami Dade College studentswho meet the following criteria:1.Resident of the City of Miami Beach (33139, 33140, 33141-excluding North Bay Village)2.Pursuing an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or certificate at MDC3.Ineligible for Future Ready Miami Dade Scholarship4.Pell Grant eligible or eligible for equivalent Miami Dade College scholarship This initiative supports our strategic priority to be known for educational excellence.
