SUBJECT: Art in Public Places Committee Motions -November 18, 2025
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide an update regarding motions made
during the November 18, 2025, Art in Public Places (AiPP) Committee meeting.
Representatives from the Miami Beach Convention Center Hotel project presented the current
artist proposals for AiPP Committee review. The artists included were the Haas Brothers, Tamm
EI-Saieh, Jaime Hayon, Hernan Bas, and Jorge Pardo.
Motion #1: The Art in Public Places Committee motions to accept the artist selection for
the Miami Beach Convention Center Hotel and the proposals presented, with the return of
the final works in approximately three (3) months' time.
The above motion was made by Sara de las Reyes, seconded by Silvia Barisione, and passed unanimously.
For this year's Legacy Purchase Program, of the thirty-eight (38) artwork submissions from eligible
galleries participating in the Art Basel Miami Beach fair, ten (10) artworks were selected to be
reviewed by the AIPP Committee. The AIPP Committee selected three (3) works to be considered
for public voting.
Motion #2: The Art in Public Places Committee motions to shortlist the following artworks
for Legacy Purchase Program public voting: Modulations -Sequence XX/X by Ximena
Garrido-Lecea; You Guided Our Prayers For Generations, We Will Continue To Persevereby Patrick Dean Hubbell; and Heaven by Ken Tisa.
The above motion was made by Sara de los Reyes, seconded by Colette Mello, and passed unanimously.
As part of the City of Miami Beach Artist Vendor program, applicants must undergo review with
the AiPP Committee after presenting their work to Tourism & Culture staff. This review is
conducted to verify the artisanal nature of the items they wish to sell. Current applicants shared
a physical demonstration of the production of their works and showed finished examples for
consideration at a recorded meeting. Cultural Affairs staff relayed this information along with
