"Art Deco: Designed to Move You" Campaign Launch
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to announce that the Office of Marketing and Communications, in close collaboration with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau
and its agency of record, VML, is launching the "Art Deco: Designed to Move You" national
marketing campaign the week of Dec. 8.
The initiative celebrates the enduring legacy and cultural vibrancy of Miami Beach's iconic,
tropical Art Deco District and coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Art Deco movement. It seeks to elevate the district's profile as a living destination where history, architecture and
contemporary culture converge.
At the heart of the campaign is a dynamic dance video, produced in multiple versions (:90, :30,
and : 15), that showcases Miami Beach's architecture through choreography staged both outside
and inside historic Art Deco buildings. Complementing the video is a new logo for the district, a
suite of digital banners and paid social media assets designed to capture the imagination of audiences worldwide.
The creative vision behind the campaign is to make the architecture feel alive, in constant dialogue with the people who move through it. Choreography becomes the bridge between
space and emotion, transforming buildings into stages and streets into scenes. From dancers
performing in front of the Leslie Hotel to scenes inside the Colony Theatre, the campaign captures the district's rhythm both day and night. The tagline, "Designed to Move You," reflects not only the architectural beauty, but also the emotional connection it inspires.
To further promote the district, a newly designed Art Deco Walking Tour Map is being created to
highlight key landmarks and architectural buildings. This printed map will be distributed citywide early next year and placed in hotels across Miami Beach and the greater Miami area to foster a
deeper engagement with Miami Beach's architectural heritage.
