SUBJECT: Residential Solid Waste Rate Increase
The purpose of this L TC is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of an increase to the residential
solid waste fee which will take effect on the January 2026 utility bill.
The City Commission adopted Resolution 2025-33795 on June 25, 2025, executing a new service
agreement with Waste Connections of Florida, Inc. to provide residential solid waste collection and
disposal. The contract commences on January 1, 2026, with a residential trash fee rate of $42.03 per
unit per month. There is an additional city service fee charged to the residential customers that
represents City expenses associated with litter control services, illegal dumping, pre/post storm related
debris removal and administrative fees related to management of the contract and billings. The city
service fee will remain unchanged.
The total monthly fee for residential waste services to single family and multi-family dwellings with
eight units or less is currently $50.81 and $46.38, respectively. Effective January 1, 2026, the total
monthly fee increase of $7 .66 translating to 13.1 % for single family and 14.2% for multifamily dwellings
respectively. The new total monthly fee for single family will be $58.47, and the new total monthly fee
for multifamily will be $54.04 per unit.
