RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING SPECIAL EVENT FEES IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $4,408 FOR THE 2026 SOUTH BEACH JAZZ FESTIVAL,
TAKING PLACE ACROSS MULTIPLE VENUES IN MIAMI BEACH FROM
JANUARY 8 THROUGH JANUARY 11, 2026.
WHEREAS, the South Beach Jazz Festival, now celebrating its 10th anniversary, will take
place throughout the City of Miami Beach from January 8 through January 11, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 Festival is themed "From Disability to Serendipity," highlighting
the talents and contributions of individuals with unique abilities while celebrating the rich legacy
and evolving future of jazz; and
WHEREAS, the Festival features an exciting lineup of world-renowned and emerging
artists, including Spanish Harlem Orchestra with special guest Etienne Charles, John
Pizzarelli, Steven Bernstein's Millennial Territory Orchestra, Spam Allstars, Federico Britos
Quintet, The Harden Project, Lemon City Trio, and the Spirit of Goodwill Band; and
WHEREAS, the Festival also includes a special lecture by jazz historian Ricky Ricardi,
and the Jazz for Tomorrow Student Stage, a dedicated platform for aspiring young musicians to
showcase their talent and creativity; and
WHEREAS, the Jazz for Tomorrow Student Stage reflects the Festival's commitment to
education and opportunity, offering live performances by student jazz bands throughout the day
and celebrating the next generation of jazz artists and their contributions to the evolving musical
landscape; and
WHEREAS, many of the Festival's events are free and held outdoors, offering residents
and visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music in public spaces, while promoting disability
awareness, access, inclusion, and community engagement through the universal language of
jazz; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends, and the Mayor and City Commission
support, the waiver of non -beach square footage fees, special event permit and applications fees
and City services impact fees, in an amount not to exceed $4,508 in the aggregate, to support
the continued success and accessibility of the 2026 South Beach Jazz Festival.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby waive special event fees in an amount not to exceed $4,408 for the 2026
South Beach Jazz Festival, taking place across multiple venues in Miami Beach from January 8
through January 11, 2026.
