A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO
REQUIRE THAT GENERAL CONTRACTORS AND DEMOLITION
CONTRACTORS INCLUDE, AS PART OF ANY BUILDING
PERMIT/DEMOLITION PERMIT APPLICATION, THE NAME AND CONTACT
INFORMATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION (C&D) DEBRIS
HAULER(S) THAT WILL HANDLE DEBRIS REMOVAL FOR THE PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Sections 90-276 and 90-278 of the City Code establish permitting and fee
requirements for persons and entities engaged in the collection and disposal of construction and
demolition (C&D) debris within the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, C&D haulers are required to obtain a valid C&D collection permit and remit
to the City twenty percent (20%) of their gross monthly receipts derived from such activities; and
WHEREAS, these requirements are intended to ensure accountability, promote fair cost
recovery, and support the City's solid waste management and environmental protection goals;
and
WHEREAS, requiring general and demolition contractors to disclose the identity and
contact information of the C&D debris hauler(s) at the time of permit application will enhance
transparency, facilitate enforcement of City Code requirements, and ensure that only properly
permitted haulers are engaged in such activities within the City; and
WHEREAS, this requirement will also assist the City in monitoring compliance with
applicable regulations and in protecting the City's financial and environmental interests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby direct the City Administration to require that general contractors and
demolition contractors include, as part of any building permit/demolition permit application, the
name and contact information of the construction and demolition (C&D) debris hauler(s) that will
handle debris removal for the project.
