A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
COMMERCE TO OPEN A CAREERSOURCE OFFICE IN MIAMI BEACH; AND
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION
TO J. ALEX KELLY, SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE,
AND TO GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS.
WHEREAS, CareerSource offices provide critical workforce development services,
including job placement assistance, career counseling, training programs, and employer support;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is home to a diverse and dynamic workforce,
including hospitality, tourism, retail, and creative industries, which would benefit greatly from the
presence of a CareerSource office; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach residents currently face barriers to accessing CareerSource
services due to the lack of a local office, requiring travel to other municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a CareerSource office in Miami Beach would enhance
economic opportunity, support local businesses, and improve access to employment resources
for residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes the importance of equitable access to
workforce development services and urges the Florida Department of Commerce to prioritize the
opening of a CareerSource office in Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby urges the Florida Department of Commerce to open a CareerSource office
in Miami Beach to better serve the employment and workforce development needs of the
community; and directs the City Clerk to transmit a copy of this Resolution; and further directs the
City Clerk to transmit a copy of this Resolution to J. Alex Kelly, Secretary of the Department of
Commerce and to Governor Ron DeSantis.
