A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATION TO PROVIDE LINE -ITEM BUDGET DOCUMENTS
FOR REVIEW AND DISCUSSION BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION DURING THE FY 2027 BUDGET PROCESS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is committed to fiscal transparency,
accountability, and strategic financial planning; and
WHEREAS, a line -item budget provides a detailed breakdown of expenditures and
revenues, allowing for more informed decision -making by elected officials and greater
public understanding of the City's financial priorities; and
WHEREAS, the current budget format as presented to the Mayor and
Commissioner, while comprehensive and following national best practices on
departmental presentation of the operating budget, may limit the ability of policymakers
and the public to fully evaluate opportunities for reallocation or savings; and
WHEREAS, providing line -item budget documents will support the Mayor and City
Commission in evaluating departmental needs, identifying potential efficiencies, and
aligning resources with community priorities during the FY 2027 budget process; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby direct the City Administration to provide line -item budget documents
for review and discussion by the Mayor and City Commission during the FY 2027 budget
process.
