A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2023-32856 TO
PROVIDE THAT THE STIPEND VOLUNTARILY FOREGONE BY
COMMISSIONER DAVID SUAREZ SHALL BE DONATED TO THE POLICE
OFFICER ASSISTANCE TRUST, A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, FOR THE
BENEFIT OF EILEEN CAJUSO, THE WIDOW OF SERGEANT DAVID A.
CAJUSO; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS OR AGREEMENTS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE DONATION; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THAT A FINAL
REPORT OF ALL DONATIONS MADE PURSUANT TO THIS RESOLUTION BE
CIRCULATED TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION VIA LETTER TO
COMMISSION (LTC).
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2023-32856 adopted by the Mayor and City Commission on
December 13, 2023 acknowledged Commissioner David Suarei s decision to voluntarily forego
the salary and allowances afforded to members of the City Commission (collectively, the
"Stipend"), and authorized the donation of such Stipend to designated non-profit organizations;
WHEREAS, Commissioner Suarez now wishes to amend the designated recipient of the
Stipend to the Police Officer Assistance Trust, a non-profit organization supporting law
enforcement families, specifically for the benefit of Eileen Cajuso, widow of Sergeant David A.
Cajuso, commencing with the pay period beginning November 3, 2025;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby amend
Resolution No. 2023-32856 to provide that the stipend voluntarily foregone by Commission David
Suarez shall be donated to the Police Office Assistance Trust, a non-profit organization, for the
benefit of Eileen Cajuso, widow of Sergeant David A. Cajuso, commencing with the pay period
beginning November 3, 2025; and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute any and all
documents or agreements necessary to effectuate the donation; and further direct that a final
report of all donations made pursuant to this Resolution be circulated to the Mayor and City
Commission via Letter to Commission (LTC).
