SUBJECT: 2025 Citywide Crime Reduction Overview
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission (L TC) is to provide an update on the efforts by the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) to reduce crime and enhance public
safety across the City of Miami Beach. These efforts reflect the Department's ongoing
commitment to maintaining a secure and vibrant community for residents, visitors, and
businesses alike.
Since January 1, 2025, the MBPD has implemented a series of enhanced strategies,
including increased neighborhood patrols, data-driven deployment models, community engagement initiatives, and targeted enforcement operations. These collective efforts have produced measurable results in key crime categories.
In 2025, Miami Beach experienced a notable 18% reduction in total major crimes.
Specific highlights include:
•Auto Theft: Down by 35.98%
•Burglaries: Down by 25.90%
•Frauds: Down by 18.56%
•Homicides: Down by 75.00%
•Robberies: Down by 32.26%
•Thefts: Down by 15.47%
•Vehicle Burglaries: Down by 32.35%
These significant reductions across multiple crime categories underscore the continued success of a proactive policing model and the dedicated work of the men and women of
the MBPD. The data also continues to reflect the value of strong collaboration with
community partners and the continued support from the City Commission.
The MBPD will continue this enhanced effort, further investing in crime prevention
technologies, intelligence-led policing, and partnerships with local stakeholders to sustain and improve upon these positive trends.
