SUBJECT: Art in Public Places Committee Motions - January 20, 2026
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide an update regarding motions made during the January 20, 2026, Art in Public Places (AiPP) Committee meeting.
As part of the City of Miami Beach Artist Vendor program, applicants must undergo review with the AiPP Committee after presenting their work to Tourism & Culture staff. This review is conducted to verify the artisanal nature of the items they wish to sell. Current applicants shared a physical demonstration of the production of their works and showed finished examples for consideration at a recorded meeting. Cultural Affairs staff relayed this information along with images to the AiPP Committee.
Motion #1: The Art in Public Places Committee motions to approve the following applicants to the City of Miami Beach Artist Vendor program: Rocio Gualsaqui (BLPL2025-09658), John Doran (BLPL2025-09657), Annia Leiva (BLPL2025-09727), Joelma Santos (BLPL2026-09731 }, Nazira Bassi (BLPL2026-09736}, and Julian Kerr (BLPL2026-09737)
The above motion was made by Member Steve Berke, seconded by Vice Chair 0. Gustavo Plascencia, and passed unanimously.
Members in attendance: Chair Colette Mello, Vice Chair 0. Gustavo Plascencia, Steve Berke, Silvia Barisione, and Sara de los Reyes.
