Art in Public Places Installation - Michele Oka Doner, BirdHouse (2026)
The purpose of this Letter to Commission {L TC) is to inform that as part of the City's Art
in Public Places (AiPP) Collection, the Michele Oka Doner sculpture, BirdHouse, (2025)
("Artwork"), to be located at Fairview Hill in Bayshore Park, will begin installation work.
The installation will begin on Tuesday, February 2, 2026, by Advanced Structural
Concepts.
Contractors will be on site performing the work to lay the foundation of the sculpture
beginning at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, and continuing intermittently through
Friday, March 27, 2026. The pouring of cement will require heavy machinery. The eight
(8)week project will require the perimeter of the sculpture site to be closed off to the public
for approximately from 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM while installation occurs.
The Parks and Recreation Department is assisting with the coordination of the installation
process, and the Neighborhood Affairs Division is assisting with notifying the Bayshore
Neighborhood HOA via a project notice and email.
